Jasmir Thakur is a highly respected social development leader and a valued member of the Business and Affirmative Action Council (BAAC), an important initiative under the Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry™ (ACCI). Based in Mumbai, he serves as the Secretary and Executive Officer of Samabhavana Society, a government-certified organization that has been working for over 25 years in the areas of Child Protection, Diversity & Inclusivity, Human Rights, and Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry™ warmly welcomes Jasmir Thakur into its growing community of changemakers, professionals, and social justice advocates who are shaping inclusive development in India through affirmative action, responsible leadership, and empowerment-driven initiatives.
With nearly three decades of experience in the social development sector, Jasmir has built a strong legacy in program management, training, research, monitoring and evaluation, and fundraising. His work is particularly recognized for addressing some of the most underrepresented and sensitive issues in India and South Asia, including male child protection and exploitation, where he is regarded as a pioneering voice.
A passionate activist, mentor, and trainer, he has worked closely with various AIDS Control Societies across India and has been a leading resource person on themes such as gender, masculinity, sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and human rights. His internationally acknowledged research studies on male sex workers and vulnerable youth communities have contributed significantly to social policy and awareness.
Jasmir is also a TEDx Speaker, widely known for his advocacy on gender neutrality and inclusive social systems. As a Life Coach, he works with individuals and corporates to foster healthier communication, empathy, and inclusive workplace cultures.
He has represented Samabhavana at national and international platforms in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Sydney, Bangkok, Auckland, and Phnom Penh, and was the only Indian to receive a full scholarship from the New Zealand Government for a global conference on sexuality and LGBT issues.
Samabhavana has partnered with leading public sector institutions and corporate organizations such as IBM, Thomson Reuters, ONGC, SAIL, Reliance Foundation, and many others, reflecting Jasmir’s ability to bridge grassroots realities with corporate responsibility.
Through the Business and Affirmative Action Council, Jasmir Thakur continues to strengthen the mission of building an equitable, inclusive, and socially empowered India, guided by the values of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the spirit of affirmative action.

About Business and Affirmative Action Council (BAAC)
The Business and Affirmative Action Council (BAAC) is a dedicated council of the Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry™(ACCI), established to promote affirmative action, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across India’s business ecosystem. BAAC works to institutionalise inclusive supply chains, inclusive workplaces, and inclusive entrepreneurship, ensuring that economic growth is equitable, participatory, and sustainable.
