An Entrepreneurship Initiative by Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry I
Expert Mentor: Sita Ram Gupta

With expert guidance from Sita Ram Gupta and institutional support from Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this initiative has the potential to transform honey from a simple product into a vehicle of economic empowerment.

Honey is not just a natural sweetener; it is a powerful symbol of health, sustainability, and rural livelihood. With its rich biodiversity and the rising demand for natural and organic products, India holds immense potential in honey production, processing, branding, and retail. Yet, many aspiring entrepreneurs—especially youth, women, and first-generation business owners—often lack practical guidance on how to convert honey-related opportunities into a sustainable, trusted, and profitable local business.

To bridge this gap, the Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry presents a focused entrepreneurship intervention, “How to Start a Honey Parlour in Your Town,” guided by industry expert Sita Ram Gupta. This initiative offers end-to-end handholding, from idea to execution, covering sourcing, quality, compliance, branding, retail setup, and customer trust-building.

Importantly, this program is positioned within ACCI’s larger national vision, “10 Million Entrepreneurs by 2047”—a movement designed to empower existing and aspiring entrepreneurs from economically weaker sections to build, scale, and succeed. Through mentorship, market access, capacity building, and practical pathways to growth, ACCI aims to create a 10-million-strong entrepreneurial force by 2047—a new generation of job creators, wealth builders, and innovation leaders emerging from historically underrepresented communities.

To address this gap, the Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has initiated a focused entrepreneurship initiative titled:

How to Start a Honey Parlour in Your Town.

This initiative aims to provide end-to-end guidance, from idea to execution, through structured mentoring by industry expert Sita Ram Gupta.

Objective of the Initiative

The key objectives of the Honey Parlour Initiative are:

  • To promote self-employment and micro-entrepreneurship
  • To encourage value-added honey businesses at the local level
  • To support rural producers, beekeepers, and small suppliers
  • To create replicable honey parlour business models across towns and districts
  • To empower entrepreneurs with practical, market-oriented knowledge

About the Honey Parlour Concept

A Honey Parlour is a small retail and experience-based outlet that offers:

  • Pure and processed honey
  • Flavoured and infused honey
  • Honey-based health products
  • Ayurvedic and wellness products
  • Awareness on honey quality, purity, and benefits

It can be started in:

  • Small towns
  • Semi-urban areas
  • Marketplaces
  • Near health centers, schools, or tourism zones

The model requires low investment, simple infrastructure, and high local acceptance.

Role of Expert Mentor: Sita Ram Gupta

Sita Ram Gupta, an experienced practitioner in honey trade and entrepreneurship, will guide participants through:

  • Understanding the honey value chain
  • Identifying reliable honey sources
  • Quality testing and purity awareness
  • Licensing, food safety, and compliance
  • Setting up a honey parlour with minimal investment
  • Pricing, branding, and customer trust-building
  • Marketing strategies for local markets
  • Scaling the business sustainably

His guidance will be practical, experience-based, and field-oriented, not theoretical.

Program Structure

The initiative will be conducted in a step-by-step learning and mentoring format, which may include:

  1. Introduction to Honey Business Opportunities
  2. Business Model for a Honey Parlour
  3. Legal & Compliance Requirements (FSSAI, local licenses)
  4. Sourcing, Storage, and Quality Control
  5. Retail Setup and Customer Engagement
  6. Marketing & Local Branding Strategies
  7. Financial Planning and Cost Estimation
  8. Growth, Expansion, and Sustainability

Target Beneficiaries

  • Aspiring entrepreneurs
  • Youth and students
  • Women entrepreneurs
  • Small shop owners
  • Self-help groups
  • Beekeepers and farmer collectives
  • First-generation business owners

Special focus will be on SC, ST, OBC, Women, DTNT, Minority, EWS, LGBTQ+ communities, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and economically marginalized communities, in line with Ambedkar Chamber’s vision of inclusive entrepreneurship.

Expected Outcomes

  • Creation of new honey parlours across towns
  • Increased local employment opportunities
  • Strengthening of beekeeping and honey supply chains
  • Enhanced entrepreneurial confidence and skills
  • Promotion of health-conscious consumption
  • Scalable and replicable business success stories

Role of Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce and Industry will:

  • Conceptualize and promote the initiative
  • Facilitate expert mentoring
